What happens if there is a robbery at a bank and they loose a bunch of money?

Posted by bank on April 2nd, 2010
Lets say there is a robbery at a bank and nobody is hurt, but a lot of money is lost. How is it handled? Does the bank pay for the money lost or are the customers out of that money? This situation hasn’t happened to me or anyone I know yet, thank God,but was wondering what would happen if it did?
Ok thanks!

What is the police procedure for cash evidence?

DSDragon asked:

I’ve been watching N.C.I.S, and they found some cash on a corpse, so I was wondering what police usually do with cash that is evidence in a case (after the case is closed, of course).

Do they just keep it in some evidence locker or something, or do they recirculate it into the bank system somehow?
What if there is no known family or friends?
