RT to smoke117: You probably will get flack, but you’re entitled to your opinions and your taste in music. I think KK came on the scene when true country music was in a downturn, and merging into pop. Hence the Highwaymen, and “Outlaw” performers that resisted this. JC had already built his reputation with fans of true country music.
I’ll get a lot of flack for this but i’ll say it anyway…I honestly have no idea why Johnny Cash is so big…while Kris Kristofferson seems to be so unknown…it’s criminal to me. Cash does nothing for me. His songs bore me, his voice bores me…Kris is a brilliant lyricist and songwriter.
Kris was a Rhodes Scholar and near genius..He wrote many song and starred in many movies.. But Johhny said this was probably his favorite song written by Kris….
I think Wow! What a great performance! Can we get a CD of this song by both of them? Can’t tell you how much this song means to me… May God Bless you both Kris and Johnny…
I read Cash. I enjoyed Walk the LIne more but the book had more information many things they did not include in the movie. It goes into Johnny’s faith in God. How he had a dark side went into a cave to end his life etc. Would like to read other books about him. I was lucky enough to see him play Ring of Fire with June once, they were so humble and did not act like big stars, just ordinary people.
